Geeze--a bio. Feels a bit self centered, but okay.
I'm different than most people and, if anything, that keeps things interesting. I seldom do things the easy way and I'm chronically late. I look at the world from my own perspective and viciously refuse to drift thoughtlessly through life in the mainstream, unless I've give whatever it is some thought and have concluded for myself that the mainstream method for something is good enough for the moment.
I've decided I don't want to while away my life in a "safe" job, being bored and spending more time with my coworkers than my own family, only to be laid off when economic winds change regardless of how loyal or great an employee I was. However, just like everyone else, I have to make money somehow or I won't get to eat. Luckily, I picked up poker as a hobby a few years ago and it's become a surprisingly profitable venture to support me (I play primarily online) while I redirect my life in a meaningful direction. I'm nearly finished a bachelors degree in computer science, but I've totally lost interest there. I'm currently pursuing photography, but I see my life's work being in many areas of creative expression including writing and possibly film. I'll grudgingly finish my current degree, but the plan is to pursue graduate work in photography.
I like to get people thinking. In a stress-driven production-oriented world, it's easy to get tunnel vision with our own work and lose all perspective of the world around us. I hope that some of the work I do will get people thinking about aspects of life they otherwise would not.
And you? Tell me something about yourself. What do you do on a regular basis that makes you proud? What do you do on a regular basis that makes you ashamed? I promise not to tell anyone. Why do you feel that way? Would you feel that way on a deserted island? What would you do differently on a deserted island? Why don't you do it now?
